Ahh the 60s: it was a time of great upheaval, sure, but also a time of great optimism in which countless social freedoms were fought for and won. Today, it feels as though some of those freedoms are increasingly in question.

The painting aims to capture the 60s as an age of rebellion and great strides in fashion, film and modern art. The social, cultural and economic legacies of the 60s — our fantasies of the era are still very much alive and swinging.
