Mind Surfing the Bay - Pandemic Art

After being let go from the power plant Homer is at the end of his rope. We find him bleeding-out on the rocks at the end of Cole Street after a botched snatch and grab at the local 7-Eleven. Meanwhile, desperate locals shred the Bay's alarmingly polluted waters. A rare sighting of "Phillip" — the Bay's mythical beast emerges to catch a glimpse of the chaos. The expression on the photo-bombing retriever's face sums up the scene.

The "Mindsurfing the Bay" series attempts to capture the wearing effects of 9 months of lockdown in Melbourne — from a surfer's mindset, (first-world problems when you put things in perspective). A collage of photos and illustrations have been assembled to help convey the helplessness, aspiration, and daily struggles of the pandemic. The waves are actually only 6 inches to 1 foot high.
